Faith's Got Talent (June 7th)
23.05.2024
I am thrilled to announce that I have been chosen as a judge for the upcoming school talent show at Faith Lutheran College Plainland! As a lover of music, dance, and all forms of creative expression, I am truly honoured to be a part of this exciting event.
I cannot wait to see the incredible talent that our students have to offer. From singers to dancers, magicians to jugglers, I am sure that we will be blown away by the amazing performances that will be showcased on stage.
Being a judge for this talent show is a big responsibility, but I am ready to carefully evaluate each act and provide constructive feedback to help our young performers grow and improve. It is always inspiring to see young students take the stage and share their passions with the world, and I am looking forward to being a part of that process.
I know that all the participants have been working hard to perfect their acts, and I am confident that they will give their best performances on the big day. I am excited to see the creativity, talent, and passion that will be on display, and I am sure that choosing the winners will be a tough task.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this school talent show, and I cannot wait to see all the amazing performances that our students will bring to the stage. It is sure to be a day to remember. Let the show begin!
Welcome 2024!
29.01.2024
2024 is here and has started strong!

Starting week 2 (Monday, 29 Jan), Kate will be teaching private instrumental lessons at Faith Lutheran College Plainland. These lessons are provided to the students during normal class hours at a slightly reduced rate (compared to the Queensland Music Teacher's Association recommended tuition).

If you are wanting outside school hours lessons with Kate, please get in touch now to book a day and time!

As the school term is about to begin, rehearsals with Queensland Wind and Brass are also starting up again. We will have our first (free) concert in Brisbane City's Queen Street Mall on Sunday, 25 February, starting at 12:00pm. The first major concert of the year is "Into the Unknown", on Saturday, 27 April at the Old Museum Building. Tickets will be available closer to the performance date.

Kate Jenkins with Rhyme, Rhythm, & Sign
16.01.2023
Kate has branched out her musical career and picked up the guitar after many years of only playing to her cat in her bedroom. This new adventure with Rhyme, Rhythm & Sign enables Kate to use her Education degree in combination with her love of music, to inspire young minds to learn Auslan (Australian Sign Language) while singing nursery rhymes in daycares around North Brisbane.
Joining Queensland Wind and Brass
23.08.2022
After years of not playing her flute regularly, Kate has found a new group to join. Queensland Wind and Brass, affectionately known as QWAB, rehearses every Tuesday night at the Old Museum Building in Bowen Hills.

Queensland Wind and Brass (QWAB) is a community ensemble that was established in December 1989 to create opportunities for high-standard, adult musicians. The ensemble is under the artistic leadership of the celebrated Alisa Jones and comprises of over fifty amateur and professional woodwind, brass, and percussion players from all over Brisbane. It has been awarded a number of prestigious awards for outstanding performance.

QWAB performs at various functions, special events, public outdoor venues such as Queen Street Mall and Roma Street Parklands, festivals, and competitions. Themed concerts, such as ‘Witchcraft and Wizardry’, are Queensland Wind and Brass’s speciality, appealing to a wide range of musical tastes and ages. Please see the Upcoming Performances page for more information on the dates & details of Queensland Wind and Brass’s upcoming performances.

Queensland Wind and Brass is a non-profit organisation that relies heavily on the support of volunteers within the band as presidents, secretaries, treasurers, librarians, and stage managers. They assist with concerts, fundraising, finances, camps, administration, and maintenance tasks.
Kate Leaves BrizWest Community Music Ensembles
1.01.2022
Kate has played with the BrizWest Community Music ensembles on flute and tenor sax since 2010, was President for 3 and a half years during that time, and is now putting in her notice to leave.

It was a really tough decision to give up playing with the Kate Street Big Band and the West Winds Concert Band, however, due to work and life commitments, Kate is unable to dedicate the time to these groups any more.

She will continue to stay in touch with the bands and will make guest appearances for performances if needed, and looks foward to seeing where the groups grow to from here.
